| I
founded mfpr in 1994. When I shut it down at the end of
2000, I did so with little ceremony. I suppose it was just
the seven-year itch, and i was eager to move on from publicity.
Now that
I've had a little time to look back, I find myself getting
sentimental for the music and artists I worked with during that
time. There've also been many people over the last couple
months who've told me just how much they loved the music Sarah
and I sent
them. With that in mind, I thought it might be appropriate to
draw up a little tribute page.
At mfpr
, we pretty much liked what we liked and obviously didn't listen
to commercial radio...ever. It's also pretty obvious we've spent
lots of time overseas.
I know
what you're thinking...here she is again..foisting music on me!
Well hey, it's not like you have to write about it or
anything!

1997 |
Ana's
actually from Basque, not Spain. She can break
your heart with her voice AND drink you under
the table. Our kinda gal! She's like Isabella Rosellini's chantuese in
Blue Velvet, but with that sexy proper Spanish
lisp! |

If
I have a musical fetish, it's EPs by trios. This
is my favorite. In fact, it's still one of my
favorite records of all time. Ironically, frontman and
songwriter Hugh disappeared the week it was
released. He called me 6 months later from
across the country where he was living under an
assumed name. My other fetish? Eccentrics!

We
worked with Luke for years. His music and looks
are from another world. He's immensely
talented and lovely. He's just released an
AMAZING album, so go buy it dammit! |

We
LOVED this minimalist masterpiece, but we must admit, even
we were shocked when Spin named it as one of
their top 20 of the year! By the way, it
should go without saying, but Richie was working
the shaved head long before Moby. |

We should have thought twice
when we found him under the table biting our

it just made us love him more.

Broke
my heart when he decided to cash in on the 'breakbeat
craze' after his "Mixed Emoitonal
Features" LP. Here's MW at his
finest: like the essence of jazz, both his
inspiration and his execution are purely
American. A definite accomplishment in the world
of dj/electronic music. |

They've
made records using omnichords and in waltz
time..obviously these guys are on another
planet..and the minute we heard them...we booked
a shuttle there. They were the first unsigned
band we got in Rolling Stone! (They deserved
it!!!!) |
